The Afnan Library: a Resource for Scholars of the Bahá’í Faith, Feb. 16

This presentation briefly describes the life of the founder of the
Library, the Hand of the Cause Mr. Hasan Balyuzi. Some details are given
of the founding documents of the Library, which were written by Mr.
Balyuzi. Following the passing of Mr. Balyuzi, the Afnan Library Trust
was established to carry forward his wishes and this received the
support of the British National Spiritual Assembly and the Universal
House of Justice. A brief description will be given of the collection
policy of the library and its current activities, in particular the
establishment of a virtual library (https://afnanlibrary.org). The
future plans, needs, and funding of the library will also be presented.

Moojan Momen lives in the United Kingdom and is a retired medical doctor by profession. In his spare time he likes to study Baha’i history and other aspects of the Baha’i Faith. He has also studied Islam (especially Shi`i Islam) and the phenomenon of religion in general. He is married with two children and two grandchildren. His most recent books have been a two-volume history of The Baha’i communities of Iran and he edited and contributed to a history of The Bahá’í Community of the British Isles (both published by George Ronald).
