Sahba Shayani is Lecturer in Persian language at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has Bachelors, Masters, and PhD. degrees from UCLA. Prior to his return at UCLA in January 2023, he taught as Senior Lecturer in Persian language at the University of Oxford from 2015 to 2023. He has been involved in Persian language pedagogy at various levels since 2005. His research focuses on the role of women in pre-modern Persian epic romance poetry. He recently published “Literary Imitation in Three Poems Attributed to Tahirih Qurrat al-ʿAyn,” in HAWWA: Journal of Women of the Middle East and the Islamic World, vol. 21, 2023.
